EXPLORE EXPANDS UK PROGRAMME

Thursday 24 February 2022

Leading adventure operator, known for outbound small group adventures, launches four new UK trips.

Leading adventure tour operator Explore, known for its outbound small group adventures, has launched four brand new trips in the UK as part of its expanding domestic programme. The new trips have been created as domestic and regional travel start to reopen following the Covid-19 outbreak.

Director of Global Sales for Explore, Ben Ittensohn, says: “There’s currently a huge appetite for exploring closer to home. We’ve all spent two years getting to know, and being surprised by, what is on our doorstep. Living in the UK we’re so lucky to be surrounded by varied countryside, historic sites and beautiful beaches. This new range of small group trips are specifically designed for the domestic market, so our trade partners can offer their customers a range of trips seeing the UK in a new light, and in a way they couldn’t easily do on their own.”

The four new trips, which include a walking holiday in West Cornwall, a coast-to-coast cycle trip in Devon, Walking the Yorkshire Dales and Walking Dartmoor and Devon’s SW Coast Path, have been designed to make the most of customers’ time away. Each trip can be easily reached by train, with pick up / drop offs from the local train station included. The trips follow the same winning formula as Explore’s overseas trips, with small groups travelling with an expert local tour leader who combines well-known sites with less-expected gems.

Agents are encouraged to contact Explore’s agency sales team to obtain a range of assets that can be used to promote these new trips to their customers and receive dedicated training.

Explore’s UK trips will be operated under the same Safe Travel protocols as its worldwide trips, with policies and procedures in place to ensure agents can continue to book with confidence. UK tours start from £495 per person for the three-night Cycling Coast to Coast while a six-night cultural tour of Northumberland costs from £995pp.

New trip details

Walk West Cornwall
5 nights from £1,245 per person
Based in Penzance, this six-day, moderate-grade walking holiday explores the South West Coast Path and Cornwall’s magnificent westernmost coastline. Taking on some of England’s finest coastal walks on the south, north and west coasts of Cornwall, you’ll be rewarded with almost-constant sea views. Take in the highlights of St Ives, Mousehole and St Michael’s Mount and walk from Lands End to Cape Cornwall.

Cycle Devon – Coast to Coast
3 nights from £925 per person
Cycle this idyllic, 102-mile Devon Coast-to-Coast route through wonderfully varied and verdant countryside. From Ilfracombe, ride past the beaches and estuaries of north Devon to join the stunning Tarka Trail for traffic-free cycling through lush green West Country valleys. Skirt the western flank of Dartmoor, cycling through secluded valleys, across viaducts and bridges before descending into Plymouth on this four-day, moderate-graded trip.

Yorkshire Dales Walking
5 nights from £1,325 per person
Discover the Yorkshire Dales on this easy graded walking holiday that combines the cultural, historic and scenic beauty of North Yorkshire. Walk through stunning Cistercian monastery ruins, dramatic limestone scenery in Malham Cove and picturesque Dales villages; visit Wensleydale Creamery, see a real sheepdog in action and sample fine Yorkshire beers. All with the famous warm Yorkshire welcome!

Walk Devon – Dartmoor and South West Coast Path
5 nights from £1,225 per person
This twin-centre walking holiday introduces the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park and stunning South Devon - a journey from moorscape to seascape. Hiking on Dartmoor we discover rugged tors, ancient oak woodlands and a prehistoric stone circle. In a contrast of scenery, on the Coast Path we walk through historic villages with sea views and a hidden estuary rich in wildlife.
