Walking and wine tasting tours

Walk amongst the verdant vineyards of Italy, Spain, and Portugal before sipping delicious local wines produced from sun-drenched grapes on our walking and wine tasting tours.

About walking and wine tasting tours

Walking and wine tasting tours are the perfect blend of gentle activity and gastronomic delight. From sampling crisp white wine in the rolling countryside of Tuscany, Italy, to wandering through the fertile vineyards of Portugal’s Douro Valley, we have a variety of trips to choose from.

A typical day on a walking and wine tasting tour involves driving to a destination of interest, stretching the legs on a gentle walk through scenic landscapes and fascinating cities, and sampling the region’s best wines. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore on your own or with other group members and enjoy delicious local food in the evening.

And you don’t need to know anything about wine or walking to enjoy this type of tour. The walking is graded easy or easy to moderate, so is suitable for people in good health and who can walk for 3-5 hours a day. The paths are generally even, and the terrain undemanding. And for the wine tasting, you just need the enthusiasm to try lots of different tipples and learn about how they are made - simple!

Tuscany, Italy
The rolling hills of Tuscany are home to a labyrinth of ancient pilgrimage trails ready to be explored by foot. Wander along wide gravel tracks and uncover swathes of verdant vineyards on our Southern Tuscany Walking and Wine Tour. Thirteen medieval towers rise out of the terracotta-roofed dwellings in the hilltop town of San Gimignano, and a plethora of rustic lanes boast boutique shops and alfresco cafes. Savour crisp and fresh white wine at the Sovestro winery and learn about the local Vernaccia grape.

Emilia-Romagna, Italy
The north Italian region of Emilia-Romagna is brimming with gastronomic delights. Tickle your taste buds with the region’s signature red wine, Lambrusco, and watch authentic parmesan cheese being made on our Taste of Italy Emilia Romagna Tour. Enjoy gentle walks in the Apennine foothills, go in search of flamingo and giant egret in the protected wetlands of Po River Delta and explore the medieval portico arcades of Bologna.
