In August 2017 a total eclipse of the sun will be visible across parts of the USA. We have adventures to very different parts of the country which offer you the chance to view this unforgettable celestial event from unique vantage points.

What is an eclipse?
A total eclipse of the sun is one of nature’s most spectacular astronomical phenomena, caused when the moon passes in front of the sun, temporarily blocking out most of the light. On 21st August 2017 a total solar eclipse will be visible across many states in central USA.  We have planned two of our trips so that you will be in the path of totality, which will last for around two minutes. Witness the amazing sight as the light fades, the air temperature cools and birds fall silent.

Where can I view the eclipse?
We have multiple trips to choose from, all with their own unique charms. If you would like to view the eclipse accompanied by an expert astronomer, then join one of our National Park based tours such as the Yellowstone and Western Trails Eclipse or our North American National Parks and Eclipse. These four departures will all meet in Jackson and view the eclipse from Grand Teton National Park. If the deep south is calling then you can view the eclipse just outside the iconic city of Nashville on our Deep South USA and Eclipse trip that takes in New Orleans, the Smokey Mountains and Memphis. More eclipse departures to follow, so watch this space.

In July 2019 you can choose to watch the eclipse from Northwest Argentina (NWAE) or combine wine tasting with astronomy on our Argentinian Wine and Eclipse trip.

Why not do something different for Christmas in 2019 and travel to Oman where you can sleep under the stars in the desert and then wake up and witness the annual eclipse. In Northern Sri Lanka  travel to Analaitivu Island and watch the eclipse before exploring the unique city of Jaffna. Travel on Bangalore to Kochi or South Indian Images and Eclipse  and you can find yourself imagining the days of the Raj in India as you eat Christmas Day lunch at one of Ooty’s colonial hotels, then watch the eclipse from this famous hill station on boxing day. For wildlife lovers watching the annular eclipse in Borneo or Sumatra is combined with searching for orang-utans, proboscis monkeys on jungle walks and staying with ethnic minorities in remote tribal villages.
