Cycling in France

Take a cycle holiday in France to enjoy the scenic beauty, enchanting culture, delicious food and fine wine the French countryside has to offer.

We offer small group cycling tours in France, ranging from easy to moderate in difficulty and which use hybrid-style bicycles (e-bikes are available for an extra cost on most trips). Most rides are led by a local leader with expert knowledge about the area. The leader is on hand to guide you along the route and organise anything like transport and optional excursions, making your cycling holiday run smoothly. So whether you're riding solo or with a friend or partner, you'll have other like-minded cyclists with you to share the journey with. 

• Canal du Midi - cycle along the historic canal in southern France, starting at the coast and ending at the impressive medieval town of Carcassonne. Our easy-graded Canal du Midi trip follows well-maintained cycle paths alongside sections of the canal, as well as through nature reserves, alongside vineyards and across salt lagoons, making it a great introduction to a small group cycling holiday and to this area of France. 
• Provence - The landscape of Provence is lined with vast vineyards and scenic lavender fields (when in season) as well as historic Roman ruins, Renaissance Chateaux and mountain-top towns. Explore this sunny and warm area in the southeast of France on our Cycle Provence tour. The moderate-graded trip combines exciting cycling with history, culture and food and drink. You'll get to discover the attractions by bike, as well as spending time off the saddle for activities like wine-tasting - a must in this region. 

What happens to my luggage?

On some trips you will have a driver with your group in addition to your leader, who will be transport your luggage in the support vehicle while your leader rides with you. Often on our France cycling holidays your leader will also be your driver, and they will transport your luggage between accommodation while you cycle. On these days you will be provided with maps to get you to the next stop. 

What's the accommodation like?

All of our cycling trips in France include comfortable hotels, usually of 3-star standard. We choose small, family-run hotels where possible that are located in the best place to suit the itinerary. Rooms have en-suite facilities and some may have a swimming point so you can cool off after a day's cycling. 

What is the food like?

Food and drink is a big part of our France cycling tours, with many itineraries including options to visit vineyards and taste the local food and wine. Some meals will be included with your trip, most commonly breakfast only - check the trip page for details. Where meals are not included, your leader will be able to recommend local restaurants and can organise bookings for your group if you wish.
