Wildlife lovers have become very familiar with the inhabitants of their own gardens this year. If you're dreaming of more exotic encounters, check out some of our top wildlife trips to take once the world opens up.

 

Explore Costa Rica

Ever seen a sloth in the wild? How about the resplendent quetzal? Costa Rica is a hotbed of bio-diversity, with ever-green jungles bursting with life. Listen out for the howler monkeys roaring overhead as you raft through jungle rapids, or spot a splash of colour from a toucan's bill as you take a zip-line through the canopy. A real adventure!

Botswana Wildlife Safari

The Okavango Delta is world-famous for its wetland landscape and phenomenal wildlife viewing opportunities. Go during dry season to see animals congregating at waterholes, or during wet season to spot hippo and crocodile in the water. Whatever the season, you'll find a huge variety of birdlife too. South Africa and Swaziland

Madagascar: The Lost Continent

The varied landscapes of 'the lost continent' provide such diverse habitats that it's a wildlife-lover's dream. The top draw of Madagascar is its lemurs, which can be found nowhere else on earth. There are a variety of lemur species to watch out for on your journey - keep an eye out for their characteristic tails and glimmering eyes and see how many you can spot!

Discover Belize

Whilst the spider monkeys and even jaguars are a big draw to mainland Belize, some of the biggest attractions of this exotic destination lie in its waters. Volcanoes and Galapagos

Set foot on the islands that recently recaptured the world's imagination in Planet Earth II, when marine iguana faced snake in a memorable scene.  From spotting condors soaring over the Andes of Ecuador, to snorkelling with sea lions off the coasts of these volcanic islands, this trip offers plenty of once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Gorilla and Chimp Safari

Get up close and personal with our closest primate cousins - gorillas and chimpanzees. In Uganda's Bwindi National Park, we'll take a walking safari in search of gorillas; in Kibale National Park we'll go on a jungle trek to discover chimps. Coming face-to-face with these great ape families and seeing them playing, eating and resting, is sure to give you goosebumps.

Serengeti Wildlife Experience

The Serengeti is one of the world's most iconic safari spots. Here you'll see a variety of animals, including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe and buffalo. The Serengeti is famous for the greatest wildlife spectacle of all: the Great Migration, when over 2 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle cross this grassland with the changing season in search of new grazing pastures. Pure Brazil

Brazil features a variety of habitats side-by-side, each with their own ecosystems and wildlife to spot. From the wetlands of the Pantanal - home to capybara, armadillo and tapir - to the world's largest rainforest, The Amazon, where monkeys, caiman and sorts of colourful birdlife live.

India Tiger Safari

Take a Jeep safari through Kanha National Park, a quiet forested land that offers a good chance of spotting the elusive Bengal tiger. This region of India is also home to sloth bear, leopard and other indigenous animals that are well-worth the patience taken to spot.
