Endangered Species Day: Six endangered species to see now with Explore.

Endangered Species Day highlights the threats that face some of the most endangered animals and their habitats. 
 
At Explore, we are always working towards responsible travel on our wildlife adventure tours by supporting local tourism, and charities that work to ensure the protection and future of the local animals and wildlife.

We are fortunate to offer a range of worldwide tours, which give you the chance to see and appreciate some of the rarest creatures on the planet. You can search for mountain gorillas deep in the rainforest of Bwindi National Park or visit Gir National Park to spot the illusive Asiatic Lion in their last remaining wild habitat. Our local guides are here to ensure yours and the animal’s safety, alongside learning about these beautiful animals and supporting local tourism.

South Africa Lodge Safari
Take a drive through the deep valley of Ithala Game Reserve in search of the critically endangered Black African Rhino. While on safari you can also spot elephants, buffalo and a variety of antelope. During the trip you also visit Kruger National Park. It was initially established to protect big game animals that had been hunted to near extinction and this commitment to animal conservation means that it’s now one of the most abundant animal habitats in the world.

Indian Wildlife Adventure

On this trip you can travel to Tortuguero National Park on Costa Rica’s coast to see endangered marine turtles. Hawksbill turtles which nest between October and March and leatherbacks which nest between April and November - prime viewing time is between June and September. Gorilla and Chimp Safari
Join us for a chance to see the incredible primates and wildlife of the Ugandan rainforest. Explore’s Gorilla and Chimp Safari follows an expert local guide deep into the rainforest near Bwindi to see the endangered Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat. The rainforest also houses over 1,000 chimpanzees and 13 different varieties of other primate including the red-tailed and colobus monkeys. Cruise along the Kazinga channel and observe hippo, crocodile and buffalo, before taking a drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park and spot the famous climbing lions.

Family Land of the Orang-utan
Take the whole family to visit the world’s largest orang-utan rehabilitation centre in Sepilok, Malaysia, covering 4,000 hectares. As well as spending time with these much loved primates, you will also visit the Sun Bear Sanctuary and take a boat cruise to spot long-nosed proboscis monkeys, crocodile and a variety of exotic birdlife and wildlife.
