Explore’s range of centre-based activity holidays are ideal for multi-generational family holidays, offering complete flexibility; although activities are included on most days, you can opt in or out as much as you want.

We’ve seen a big increase in the number of three-generation families joining Explore this year. Taking your family on holiday presents a great opportunity to spend precious time together and explore exciting new countries and experiences along the way. At its best, family travel is probably the most rewarding thing you can do together, so why not consider a trip for the whole family and bring the grandparents along as well this year?
A great feature of our family adventures is the shared experience of travelling with other like-minded people; kids have a ready-made network of new friends, leaving parents and grandparents quality time to relax, experience the country and enjoy time together.
Our new ‘lite’ options in the French Alps and Spanish Pyrenees, with prices starting at just £865 with flights, have been designed for family members to participate in different activities each day: if half the family want to relax at the hotel enjoying the swimming pool whilst the other half prefer to take part in the activities, no problem! Everyone can be kept happy.
Here are our top picks to keep the grandparents, Mum and Dad and the kids all happy this summer:
This energetic trip explores one of Tuscany's hidden gems, the Garfagnana Valley. We combine varied outdoor activities with time to relax by the pool at our beautifully-restored Tuscan villa. Kayak on a mountain lake, walk the Cinque Terre coastal path and cycle on the ancient city walls of Lucca. At the end of each day we return to our homely farmhouse and enjoy home-cooked Tuscan cuisine.
Sicily, an island that offers adventure with a rich historical backdrop. This trip blends a variety of activities with the cultural highlights of Palermo and Taormina. Activities include: sea kayaking, snorkelling, cycling, a water park, climbing, archery, power fan (falling from a high platform attached to a safety harness), walking on Mt Etna and a pasta/pizza cookery lesson. Activities are graded easy and just require an enthusiasm for adventure! Each evening we return to the comfort of our hotel and even a tree tent!
We experience traditional Greece on this relaxing cruise around the quiet coves and harbours of Evia Island. Join our captain, Thanos, on board a Greek motorised sailing boat and explore the forts and ruins scattered along this historic coastline. On the way we drop anchor at tranquil fishing villages and visit the local taverna to sample the delicious local Mediterranean cuisine.
Join us for a week of exciting activities in stunning Croatian landscapes. Based on an island just off Trogir and by the beautiful Dalmatian coast, we enjoy the thrills of whitewater rafting, try out sea kayaking and take the challenge of canyoning through caves and waterfalls. There is also time to discover Croatia’s historic sites or relax, making this the ideal trip for all the family.
