Crowning Achievement, Lasting Legacy

On 29 May 1953 at 11.30am, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay successfully reached the summit of the earth’s highest peak, Mount Everest. This year marks the 60th anniversary of that first ascent and to celebrate, the Himalayan Trust UK and Mount Everest Foundation hosted two special events at the Royal Geographical Society in London. Explore's Emily Davies was lucky enough to attend ‘Crowning Achievement, Lasting Legacy’.
