WHO ARE EXPLORE TAILORMADE?Explore Tailormade is an exciting venture from the UK’s largest adventure tour operator for group travel, Explore. Having offered pioneering group travel for 30 years, a dedicated team of regional specialists are now focussed on delivering tailor-made holidays for the adventurous at heart.
The aim of Explore Tailormade is to provide expert knowledge and personal service, helping you to design your perfect holiday. From creating your itinerary, right through the booking process, to 24-hour back-up support and the best guides and transport while you’re away to when you’re back home.
WHAT IS A EXPLORE TAILORMADE HOLIDAY?A tailor-made holiday is a unique experience designed to suit your own personal requirements. Regional specialists are on hand to guide you in choosing your itinerary, style of accommodation, mode of transport and those special touches you want to add to make your trip perfect – maybe a homestay or a local meal under the night stars. Explore Tailormade is all about offering flexibility.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXPLORE TAILORMADE AND OTHER EXPLORE HOLIDAYS?Quite simply, Explore Tailormade offers bespoke holidays, flexibly designed for each individual traveller. Explore adventures offer group holidays based on existing and fixed itineraries.
WHAT MAKES EXPLORE TAILORMADE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BESPOKE HOLIDAY COMPANIES?Our experience and knowledge spans 30 years of taking pioneering travellers on unique adventures, so when it comes to planning, and then operating your tailor-made holiday, you are travelling in safe hands. When Explore was founded, the ethos was to provide holidays that travelled in a responsible manner and got beneath the surface of the destination, proving holidays could be thought provoking and good fun. The aim to deliver authentic, enriching journeys remains with every tailor-made holiday we sell.
CAN YOU OFFER TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAYS TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?The
destinations you see on our website are our favourite countries. A team of well-travelled specialists has spent months travelling the world over, looking at all aspects of travel within many different countries. During these journeys we have reviewed 100s (if not 1000s) of different styles of accommodation, have travelled on every available form of transportation and have uncovered gems of information before deciding which countries would best suit an Explore Tailormade holiday. HOW IMPARTIAL IS THE ADVICE GIVEN BY YOUR SPECIALISTS?Explore Tailormade do not own any hotels or overseas ground suppliers. So the advice you’ll receive when designing an itinerary is 100% impartial. Any properties or services that we suggest are being recommended purely on merit.
AM I ON MY OWN WHEN I AM OVERSEAS?In every country that we travel, Explore Tailormade has a network of local contacts and suppliers who will ensure that your holiday goes as smoothly as possible. Typically you will be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to the accommodation of your choice. A local representative will provide you with an initial briefing about your holiday and will confirm that you have all of the necessary contact numbers - 24/7 backup will be available both in the country of travel and here in the UK (we are never more than a phone call away, 24 hours a day and every day of the year). Depending on your style of trip, you will then either be accompanied by an Explore Tailormade guide and/or driver for all or part of your journey, or have all relevant support on a self-drive itinerary – the choice is yours, but we’ll be with you every step of the way. Travelling privately also offers flexibility during your holiday and so your driver or guide will discuss options with you each day to ensure you get the most out of your holiday.
HOW FAMILIAR ARE YOUR REGIONAL SPECIALISTS WITH THEIR AREAS?The aim of Explore Tailormade is to offer the best service and knowledge available in the travel industry. For this reason we ensure that our specialists travel frequently to the countries they sell, so that they are able to tell you about all of the latest developments within a country, and their best up-to-date travel tips and hidden highlights.
WHAT STYLE OF ACCOMMODATION CAN I EXPECT?We aim to take our customers beyond the normal tourist trail and know that, for many, the actual destination is more important than the accommodation itself, as is finding the perfect local hideaway. We also appreciate that many travellers would like comfortable, stylish or luxurious accommodation. Our regional specialists have all visited a wide range of accommodation options – from bush camping in the desert to some of the finest hotels found anywhere. This way we are able to offer a huge variety of accommodation styles to suit every budget. When putting together an itinerary we will ensure that we listen to your requirements for accommodation and match them to the best available for you.
HOW DO I TRAVEL AROUND A COUNTRY?In whichever way you want. We will always tell you which is the most appropriate form of transport for that area and within the time you have available, and also give you the chance to travel on forms of transport appropriate to the country you are travelling in. Whether you choose to travel by road, rail, boat, aeroplane or even on foot, our aim is to ensure that you get the most from your travel experience – getting there is part of the fun.
CAN I CHOOSE WHICH AIRPORT I DEPART FROM?If there is a scheduled flight to your chosen destination departing from your preferred airport, then we will be able to book it for you at a competitive rate. Our rates include economy seats, upgrades to enhanced economy, business class and for those very special occasions, first class.
WHAT IS THE BOOKING PROCESS?Once you have an idea of where you want to go, we would recommend that you have a look at some of the example itineraries on our destination pages for inspiration. Then contact us either using the quote form on this website or by calling 0844 875 1890. At this stage one of our regional specialists will discuss all of the options available to you and help you put together an itinerary that matches your requirements. We will then send you a detailed itinerary with a quote. You can come back to us as many times as you like after this to create your perfect itinerary – we’ll work on it together. Once we’ve got an itinerary you like, we’ll ask for a booking form and deposit, and the arrangement of your holiday begins.
WHAT DO EXPLORE TAILORMADE DO TO OFFSET CARBON EMISSIONS FOR FLIGHTS?We carbon offset all our passenger's flights, by including in the itinerary cost a sum to fund projects that reduce global CO2 emissions - we are the first large travel operator to do so. This has been no small decision as we expect to hand over a cheque for a six figure sum each year and so we have chosen our offsetting partner very carefully, as well as the specific projects our funding will help.
WHAT ELSE DOES EXPLORE TAILORMADE CONSIDER PART OF RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL?Not only do we work with and financially contribute to charities to help many of the communities we regularly visit, but we’re also very sensitive to the delicate balance of local cultures, wildlife and environment.
