What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Obviously, reaching the top of Kilimanjaro has to  be a highlight.  But actually it was the sunrise that caught me by surprise and had me in tears.  The final ascent is tiring and mentally draining, but the sunrise was so perfect and gave me the boost that I needed.  I can't imagine I will ever see a sunrise like it ever again *sigh*.

We were very lucky to see so much on safari - even to the point of hyenas finghting over the remains of a lion kill (lots of crunching noises).  The tour notes suggest that the camping will be basis - don't believe a word - this is grade A 'glamping'!"

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

"The tour leader on Kili was brilliant.  His enthusiasm and cheeky laugh kept us all going - thanks Chunga.

The tour leader on safari was very knowledgable but didn't quite have the people skills that we've been used to on Explore holidays - but I guess Chunga was a very hard act to follow.  "

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

If you wear contact lenses, think seriously about bringing prescription sunglasses.  It is very dusty for much of the time on Kili and the air is very dry.  Coupled with that my eyes got very puffy over night at high altitude.  At the very least - I would recommend you go for daily disposables.
