Suitability
Suitability
We've given each of our tours a comfort rating and a tour pace, walking or cycling grade to give you a general idea about the level of activity on each tour and the standard of accommodation you will be staying in at the end of your day's adventure.
Often you'll stay in different styles of accommodation during your tour; so we make an average rating across the entire tour. For more information on where you'll stay each night, please refer to the day by day tour itinerary.

Packing for your tour
To assist with packing for your tour, we have detailed some of the essential items you should take with you.

Luggage
Unfortunately it does occasionally happen that luggage does not always reach its destination on the same flight as its owner, or possibly it may be damaged in transit. If you are unlucky enough for this to occur, it is important that you file a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) with the airline before leaving the airport. This is essential when you come to make a claim either against the airline or from your travel insurance company

General Information
Trip Summary
This delightful journey by rail takes us from the canals of Venice in the northeast, down to Tuscany where we visit Florence, spiritual home of the Renaissance, and Pisa, famous for its leaning tower but also home to some great architecture and works of art. We spend time at an agriturismo in the Tuscan countryside and have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area on foot, before moving on to mighty Rome. Our time in the “Eternal City” is spent visiting all the major highlights, including the Coliseum and Trevi Fountain to name but a few. Continuing south, we spend three blissful days in the coastal town of Sorrento, from where we can visit Pompeii, destroyed by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD and still wonderfully preserved. Art, culture, history and romance, Italy has it all and our comprehensive, yet flexible itinerary makes for an ideal tour of this great land.
