Great Wall Of China Extension Tour

Overview

Combine a walk along China’s Great Wall with a visit to some of the Orient’s greatest archaeological treasures. We travel on some of the more remote and interesting sections of the ancient Wall: from the ‘Old Dragon’s Head’ starting point on the Yellow Sea to Simatai, perched on Yanshan Mountain. Over several days we follow crumbling walkways, climb stone steps and pass ancient watchtowers. Along the route we stop to take a boat ride across the lake at Panjiakou and visit the Eastern Quing Tombs. We also travel by train to Xian to visit the renowned Army of Terracotta Warriors and roam through the narrow streets of the Old Muslim Quarter.

Tour Highlights

  • Beijing - Explore Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City
  • Old Dragons Head - Visit the point where the Great Wall meets the sea
  • Jiaoshan - Walk on spectacular sections of the wall near its eastern end
  • Panjiakou - Take a boat trip where the Wall crosses the water
  • Eastern Qing Tombs - Visit the stunning Imperial Tomb Complex of the Qing Dynasty near Zunhua
  • Jinshanling - Walk on the wall towards Simatai and then back to Jinshaling - the most beautiful section of the Great Wall visited
  • Xian- Meet the incredible Terracotta Warriors
