Brazil's north-eastern region has 'so much to offer'
E-mail Print

People on solo holidays in Brazil should travel to the north-east

The north-east region of Brazil has a lot to offer yet has not been fully explored by Brits, according to the Brazilian Tourist Office.

Glauco Chris Fuzinatto, UK and Ireland director at the Brazilian Tourist Office, noted that Brits tend to head to the classic destinations of Iguassu Falls, Rio, Sao Paulo and the Amazon.

He said that these areas are admittedly fantastic for people on solo holidays, but highlighted that the north-eastern region of Bahia has a lot more to be explored.

"It's an area that has got so much to offer ... to backpackers: sun and beach, culture, sports events [and] pleasure, it's an amazing part [of the country]," he said.

Bradt recently published the only standalone travel guide title to cover the region of Bahia, the capital of which is Salvador.

The author, Alex Robinson, shares Mr Fuzinatto's views, saying that it remains a mystery to him why people travel to Asia, the Caribbean and Australia in search of a great undiscovered exotic location, when the Brazilian region remains untouched.
