Royal Castle is a testament to the phoenix city's reconstructive efforts
Warsaw is a great destination for people travelling on a solo holiday through eastern Europe - and is a must for anyone visiting Poland.
Anthony Lambert, who writes travel articles as well as guidebooks for Brandt, said in the Independent newspaper that the city of Frederic Chopin is one imbued with culture.
The travel expert also suggested that a trip to Warsaw is not complete without a visit to one of the most impressive palaces in the country.
"It is hard to believe that the Royal Castle is a reconstruction, completed in 1980. Its gilded and marbled rooms are a symbol of Poland's determination to reclaim its heritage after the war," he said.
"Among the rooms are the magnificent Great Assembly Hall with its view over the River Vistula [and] the Knights' Room with scenes from Polish history."
Warsaw is the capital of Poland and home to attractions such as the Palace of Culture and Science and the Polish National Opera. It is a candidate city to be the European Capital of Culture 2016.
