More people buying Mexican money for holidays
Adventure holidays in Mexico may be increasing in popularity after a report revealed that more people are changing money into the Central American state's currency.
The American Express Global Foreign Exchange Services Currency Index has revealed that there was a 168 per cent jump in currency sales of the Mexican peso for the first quarter of this year, compared to the last year's first three months.
Mexico is a very popular destination for people planning adventure holidays, particularly those who want to walk to the ancient Mayan site of Chichen Itza.
One way to mix this fascinating history with an experience of the authentic culture of the area is to try some of the famous cuisine.
Travel guidebook company Lonely Planet recently voted Mexico as one of the best places in the world to try the local street food, with John Hecht - who has written three guidebooks for Lonely Planet - saying it is so good that "you just might decide to change the date on your return ticket".
