Region is versatile and available for hiking holidays and safaris
The tourism prospects for Sub-Saharan Africa are looking positive, after it was revealed that the region's tourism industry has proved itself to be "remarkably resilient" through the economic downturn.
Market research company Euromonitor International revealed recently that the region received a growth of 2.6 per cent over the past year, despite an economic crisis hitting much of the world.
People may wish to take adventure holidays to this vast area of Africa as many of the countries, such as Kenya, offer a superlative safari experience. Some other countries are ideal for hiking holidays.
For instance, holiday-makers may like to walk the Simien Mountain Trek in Ethiopia, which offers stunning views from the 3926-metre tall vantage point of Imet Gogo.
According to the research, South Africa is by far the most popular country in Sub-Saharan Africa, with five times the number of visitors who travelled to the second place on the list: Zimbabwe.
