Enjoy hiking, kayaking and scuba diving at the nearby Waiheke Island
Travellers on adventure holidays in New Zealand will be able to enjoy a range of adrenaline-fuelled activities during their stay, according to a travel writer.
Mark Chipperfield, writing for the Independent, was full of praise for the city of Auckland and claimed that the nearby Waiheke Island is the perfect spot to enjoy some watersports.
He said: "On a sunny day this pint-size island, just 35 minutes from Auckland by ferry, is hard to beat. Most people come here to sample the estate-grown wines, but the island also offers good hiking, kayaking and scuba diving.
"Waiheke has its own craft brewery and a good selection of cafés and restaurants."
Mr Chipperfield added that adventurous types should arrange a small guided tour of the Waitakere ranges and the beautiful coastline.
Visitors looking for a more relaxing way to enjoy their holiday should pay a visit to the stunning Auckland Bridge, according to Mr Chipperfield.
