Kenya is home to many national parks

People looking for adventure holidays may wish to travel to Kenya, as the east African country still offers some of the best safari experiences in the world.

In 2010, Kenya had the highest number of overseas visitors ever, reaching 1,095,945 tourists. This represents a 15 per cent growth compared to the previous year.

Kenya has many national parks, which are run by Kenya Wildlife Services. It is possible to see many different animals, including elephants and flamingos, in these parks.

Some of these national parks - which include Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park and Mount Kenya National Park - are UNESCO work heritage sites.

Author Anne Marie Scanlon, writing in the Irish Independent, said that the many "wide-open sky, the diversity of wildlife, the people, the smells [and] the sounds" are some of the many things that make Kenya special.

Kenya has recently been promoted as a beautiful destination for romantic couples, as it was the place where Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton.
