Egypt has been visited for thousands of years
People planning a solo holiday should consider travelling to "the oldest tourist destination on earth": Egypt.
That is according to a writer on the website for travel advice company Rough Guides, who said that some of the attractions in the North African country are the same as they were thousands of years ago.
"Ancient Greeks and Romans started the trend, coming to goggle at the Cyclopean scale of the Pyramids and the Colossi of Thebes," the writer says.
"Today, the attractions of the country are not only the monuments of the Nile Valley and the souks, mosques and madrassas of Islamic Cairo, but also fantastic coral reefs and tropical fish, dunes, ancient fortresses, monasteries and prehistoric rock art."
Some of the attractions in Egypt have been there for thousands of years, for instance, the city of Luxor with its West Bank Necropolis, Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.
