Julian Clary says the country's volcanoes are fascinating
A comedian and novelist has praised a Central American country as a perfect destination for a solo holiday.
Julian Clary - well known for his stand-up comedy shows and his three novels - said that Nicaragua is an "enchanting, beautiful, dramatic" country, while being interviewed for the Daily Mail.
He said that he first visited the country with a friend a few years ago and has since been back three years ago, on his own.
"There are active volcanoes. Wherever you are, you can see them puffing away in the distance. They are so alive - it's humbling," he told the news provider.
"Go up a volcano and watch it in action. There's a place called pelican eyes, a resort in San Juan del Sur. The setting is wonderful and if you want to relax and recuperate it's ideal."
Some attractions that bring people on solo holidays to the Central American country are the kayaking, snorkelling and surfing action on its Pacific coast.
