Families wanting adventure holidays could consider a trip to Turkey
Families in the market for adventure holidays could do well to look into Turkey as the country offers "action packed" experiences.
Alice Hart-Davis, travel writer for the Daily Mail, visited Turkey in August and found that there was an array of activities on offer, including sailing, windsurfing, scuba-diving, tennis and cycling.
Ms Hart-Davis visited a resort near Foca named Club Phokaia, located an hour east of Izmir. She commented that the resort was "remarkably un-touristy".
The journalist revealed that she immediately signed herself up for Beginners Windsurfing, an activity she was keen to try.
She wrote: "After some basic theory onshore, we learned to assemble our boards and wobbled off into the water.
"By day two, I could manage basic tacking. By the end of the week, I felt confident enough to take a board out on my own."
Those considering heading to Turkey for adventure holidays may be interested to learn that the Turkish cuisine is famous for its kebabs, meze and dough-based desserts such as baklava.
