Adriatic city offers activities for activity holidays and solo holidays
Croatia is a country that is ripe for people planning activity holidays and also for people looking for relaxing cultural solo holidays.
According to Ron Bedard, writing in the Vancouver Sun, the "under-rated" European country offers plenty of outdoor activities for people on adventure holidays.
However, Mr Bedard also emphasised the variation that can be found across mainland Croatia and its islands - which number at just over 1,000.
In particular, the writer suggests paying a visit to the Adriatic city of Zadar, in Croatia's Dalmatian region.
"The city of Zadar … in the central part of Croatia offer[s] a great jumping-off point for an adventure exploring the Croatian people and countryside," he said.
"Croatia offers an abundance of culture, outdoor and subterranean adventures to satisfy any adventure travel cravings."
Other attractions in Zadar, which has a population of just over 90,000, include the Croatian Theatre House and the National Museum.
