Adventure holidays may improve job prospects

Long-term adventure holidays give travellers life skills

People planning adventure holidays may wish to extend their trip, as experiencing another culture gives people "new life skills" and can enhance job prospects.

That is according to a spokeswoman for ABTA - The Travel Association, a company which represents thousands of travel agents and tour operators.

According to the spokesperson, extended long-haul holidays and even career breaks are becoming more popular, due to a rise in redundancy packages which give people the time and money to travel.

"When [people on long-term trips] come back, they have done something completely different with completely different cultures, doing different activities, taking them completely out of their comfort zone," they said.

"[This is] as well as learning new skills and realising that they can actually do things that they didn't think they could."

People looking to take long-distance adventure holidays may wish to visit the jungles of Cambodia, which travel writer Jane Dunford says contain "some of the country's most impressive natural sights".
