Many of the growing number of travellers visiting the East African country of Ethiopia is testament to the "altogether different African experience" it offers.
Jonathon Gregson, a travel writer for the Evening Standard, highly recommended a trip to the country for its "unique - and largely uninterrupted - cultural heritage".
People may wish to take a hiking holiday to Ethiopia to explore all that the country has to offer. The writer suggests that the country's sites and cultural attractions can be trekked around are magnificent.
"The continuous presence of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, with its clifftop monasteries and rock-hewn churches … is for me most fascinating," he said.
"That it is still a living presence was brought home to me during one of the Ethiopian Church's great festivals, the Feast of the Epiphany."
This festival brings together hundreds of people, who gather at a church to join a procession of a model of the Ark of the Covenant to the pool where Jesus's baptism in the River Jordan is re-enacted."
