People taking singles holidays in the north of Spain should definitely visit the restaurants in the area, according to the tourism board.
Holidays in the north of the Iberian country are becoming more popular due partly to the "lovely food and wine" offered by the area.
Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourism Office, noted that new tourism destinations in the north of the country are becoming popular, which she partly attributes to the food.
"Asturias, Galicia, Leon and other regions are well connected throughout direct flights and offer new experiences to those who already know some parts of Spain," she said.
Food for which Galicia is famous includes an array of seafood, such as squid (or calamares). The area is also known for a dessert called tarta de Santiago, a pie filled with almonds, eggs and sugar.
In the World Baked Goods competition of 1986, the tarta de Santiago (which translates as the cake of St James) was named the 23rd best desert in the world.
