A hiking holiday will be worth 'more demanding' walk
Taking a hiking holiday across the Himalayas is one of the ultimate travel experiences, according to a writer on the Sunday Telegraph online.
The 13th entry in Richard Madden and James Bedding's feature on top 20 adventure holidays around the world is a hiking holiday across the famous mountains.
As part of a trekking tour on the Indian side of the mountain range, one of the writers visited an area that has recently been out of reach for many hikers.
"East of Ladakh, sandwiched between the Leh to Manali highway and the Tibetan border, is the Chang Tang plateau, until recently inaccessible," he wrote.
Mr Madden continues that "trekkers seem to outnumber the locals" in some areas of the Himalayas, but he finds the Indian route "more demanding" and thus more rewarding.
Speaking about the list in general, Mr Madden said that adventure holidays like the Himalayan hiking trip are all about the "rush of adrenalin, landscapes and escaping the mundane".
