Pyramid of Khufu is a breathtaking sight, says travel writer
Travellers planning to book solo holidays in Cairo will find the Pyramids are a truly breathtaking sight, according to a travel writer.
Christa D'souza recently visited the city and was full of praise for the various historical sites which are located throughout Cairo and its outskirts, including the famous Pyramid of Khufu.
She said: "But to see the only survivor of the Seven Wonders of the ancient World (as the great pyramids of Kings Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure are) for real, is breathtaking - to think that each block weighed an average of 2.5 tonnes and that for one pyramid there were 2.3 million of them."
Ms D'souza also advised holidaymakers to pay a visit to the Egyptian Museum, which is home to the world's largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts.
Guests will be able to see Tutankhamen's gold mask and sarcophagus, as well as the preserved bodies of 11 pharaohs.
