Families can discover the ruins of Monte Alban during their break in Mexico

Families planning a trip to Mexico will find lots of fascinating adventure activities on offer, it has been claimed.

Mexican opera star Rolando Villazon expressed his belief that his homeland is "a great country" to visit as it is home to so many beautiful places such as Oaxaxa city.
He wrote in the Daily Mail: "The region also boasts Monte Alban, spectacular ruins dating back to 500 BC, which are 1,300 ft up the mountain.

"The ancient Zapotec people actually levelled the mountain top so they could build this ceremonial site. The views are fantastic."

Holidaymakers will also discover one of the oldest living tress in the world in the nearby town of Santa Maria del Tule.

The Montezuma Cypress tree, known as the Arbol del Tule, is more than 2,000 years old and features a contorted trunk and a range of figures carved into the bark such as goblins and monsters.
