People planning to take an adventure holiday to the Indonesian island of Bali will find there is a whole host of different events they will be able to attend throughout the year.
That there is often some sort of special festivity going on is one of the most impressive things about the destination, according to Adam Skolnick, Lonely Planet's Indonesia author.
"Nyepi, the Hindu New Year - usually held in March or April - is a two-day event full of marauding demons followed by soul stirring silence," he said.
"Usually held in October, the Ubud Readers and Writers Festival has celebrated international and Indonesian literature for eight years running, with workshops, readings and parties."
Although Bali is a great destination for people planning to take part in festivities, there are also many permanent cultural and historical sites, especially in the region of Ubud, where people can visit Goa Gajah (or Elephant Cave) and Pejeng Temples.
