Kenya is home to 'beautiful' landscape
Travellers can beat the winter blues with an adventure holiday in Kenya, it has been claimed.
Simon Hoggart, travel correspondent for the Guardian, recently visited the country during the Christmas holidays and discovered the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
He said: "The Kenya coast is wonderful. The Indian Ocean is shallow for a long way out, covering sandbanks and reefs, so that it creates an almost fluorescent display of stripy colours stretching to the horizon – aquamarine, ultramarine, navy blue, royal blue, violet and turquoise."
Mr Hoggart advised visitors to the country to try the range of local delicacies available in the famous Carnivore restaurant, which serves ostrich, camel and crocodile, as well as bulls' testicles.
The country is also home to the idyllic Ali Barbour's Forty Thieves bar, which is located on the beach.
Kenya is located in east Africa, bordering Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan, and has a population of around 39 million. The capital city is Nairobi.
