Solo holidays in Mexico City should take in Zocalo
The capital city of Mexico is an exciting destination that may appeal to people on solo holidays as it is "a remarkable showcase of … cultural achievement", according to the promotional body for the country.
Official tourism board Visit Mexico has said that Mexico City has a unique mix of history, culture and natural spaces.
"It is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities and now one of its largest cities, with a metropolitan area population approaching 23 million," the organisation noted on its website.
"The city has five Aztec temples, the largest cathedral on the continent and 11 ecological parks."
Visit Mexico added that the city is also home to Zocalo, which is considered the largest public square in the world. Located in the Plaza de la Constitucion, Zocalo is an impressive sight, stretching for 57,600 square metres and surrounded by notable and imposing buildings.
