Without a shadow of a doubt my best holiday ever was to Nepal earlier this year to trek to Everest Base Camp. It combined everything I love: activity, beautiful scenery, a fun group, great interaction with the local Nepalese people and above all an amazing tour leader, Sudarshan. We laughed constantly, ate like kings and queens and Sudarshan even managed to arrange for us to meet the man who has summited Everest more than anyone else. Now if that isn’t a legend of a tour leader (and friend) I don’t know what is!
Bangladesh was another place I fell in love with, instantly and wholeheartedly. The combination of rice paddies and tobacco fields stretching for miles in front of you, that vibrant green all around you, contrasted with the bright saris of the ladies and lungis of the men make it so beautiful and colourful. And wherever you stop, the curiosity and openness that you’re greeted with by all - men, women and children - really reminds you why you love to travel and what for.
When I travel I always take an open mind and a greeting! Being able to say hello in the local language and not being afraid to use sign language to fill in the gaps has helped me enjoy many meetings with people from all over the world!
