Tours in North Korea

Untouched and untouchable, if you are lucky enough to be one of the 2,000 Westerners (per year) granted an audience, this is an esoteric country well worth the visit even if just to see how isolated and completely commanding it is. “The Hermit Kingdom” - continually resisting external pressure to change with a society centred on an ideology that still dominates every aspect of people’s lives - is said to be one of the last bastions of Communism.

We begin our adventure in Beijing and spend two days uncovering the history of a city that was until recently the ancient capital of another concealed culture and civilisation. Journeying to Pyongyang, the unique showpiece of North Korea, we make the obligatory tribute to the Great Leader Kim ll Sung at the Mansudae Monument and visit his birthplace at Mangyongdae. We will also head into the beautiful Myohyangsan Mountains, admire the impressive International Friendship Exhibition, and stand at Panmunjon the world’s most fortified border, all the while gaining an insight into a very remote, obscure land.
